How Successful Was Rain Making?
The 1892 experiments were judged a failure, and the US government pulled his funding. His detractors began referring to Dironforth as dry, henceforth. Another theory that gained popularity in the 1890s was the chemical theory. The idea was that you could mix up batches of certain chemicals,. release them into the atmosphere; these would cause it to rain. One of the major figures using this method was Frank Melbourne, who was also known as the rain wizard.
