Donald Ray Forester confessed to the Burger Chef murders in 1986. He later recanted his confession, saying that he was not responsible for the killings. The district attorney decided against pressing charges after a 1200-page review offorester's statements. "It was such a tainted investigation from the start," says author and former prosecutor Michael Goldsmith.
