It's thought that Francis seeded the Renaissance because of his love of nature. His piety was a love of the world around him, brother, son and sister moon as he's remembered for singing. This unleashed a huge new spirit that fostered a keen interest in the material world rather than just spiritual realities. It leads to early kinds of empiricism that would give birth to modern science too.
