How Much Complexity Do You Need in Your Language?

There are two levels of simplification in a language. The first level is the Hoffman kind of part, where how much you can simplify reality for your perception is dependent on what function do you put that perception to? In other words, it's about getting through coordination of a social environment. So an example, I think that I talk about in the book, at least in passing is kinship systems.
