General Douglas MacArthur shows up in an olive green field coat in tan nickers and wears his hat jauntily in skew. He's got 600 armed soldiers and six tanks. And so that cavalry moves on the ruined buildings along Pennsylvania Avenue, unleashing a barrage of tear gas on BEF occupied buildings. The infantry follows with rifle mounted bayonets. In the evening, having won the first battle, MacArthur directs his troops to torch every tent in the BEF camp. A day of bloodshed and riots, reminiscent of actual conditions in France in 17.
