The Origins of Love

For most of Western history, love has been the focus of serious philosophical thought. It's really a very, very recent idea that love can't be defined and I'm arguing that that's nonsense. If you'd asked someone like Plato, he would have said that there is one thing called love of which the different things that we think of as love are constituents. All love seeks in its very structure to reclaim a lost past and all love also moves forward to a future completion.
