After winning the war of knives, touson had taken over this plantation and now ran it at the state's expense,. sending the profits back to josephine bonaparte. There's no actual evidence thatjosephine was pushing this racist slave line. And i'm following here the excellent recent book by philip gerard, called the slaves who defeated napoleon.
