The first thing i learned after leaving inhouse software to go that was just millions of dollars in revenue, ten, 20 year old software. Once i left that world to go work for start up companies, i realized how important it was to actually make the sale. So they actually want you to talk to a salesperson who's got the charisma and relationships that can sort of communicate it.
