The sheel in the gig is seen as a fertility symbol that encourages sexual activity. Other scholars reject that and say it was meant to protect against infant mortality. When you strip away patriarchy, i suppose,  you don't simply assume a man made this and he's objectifying the woman. And so maybe women made the sheet in a gig, or maybe it was made for women.
