What Do You Think of the RMT's Strikes?
Sally Kohn: Unions often describe striking as a last resort. Something their members very much don't want to do, but they've been left with no other choice. But we know that strikes also have the effect of building class consciousness and can be exciting and enlivening to be a part of. She says unions are engaged in specific disputes about specific issues rather than fighting for all us together. Skelton: The risk is that strikers' goals become inconsistent over time - so it's important not to accept that workers' goals are fragmented.
