Is There a Way to Get Off Plastic?

Coke, McDonalds and other companies are trying to get rid of plastic. But the holy grail is finding an alternative to the oil used to create them in the first place. Having control over this would be like becoming the first country or company to wield nuclear power. If these power systems are not dismantled then there's a strong possibility that we won't be talking about a world without plastic for long. We'll be talking instead, about a world Without humans.
