After twenty years of working in an i cu and meeting people on the worst day of their life, i came to the realization that i had every symptom of burn out. So after going through all the data, and specifically seeing the signal that compassion can be beneficial for the giver too, that really left an indelible mark on me. And you also realize you can get better at compassion. It can be taught. It can be learned. And you have to be very intentional in practising it every day.
