What Do You Think of the Vikings and the Brochs?
There are as many ideas about what brochs were used for as there are archaeologists. You have people who believe that they are houses of chieftains, important places and the focus for perhaps tribute. At the other end of the scale, you've got people who believe it is defensive or even aggressive. I don't know how it can be aggressive if it doesn't move. But anyway, you have these enormous ditches around them and enormous defenses in some surviving.
