The Importance of Having an Open Mind
When you go to grad school, the expectation for everybody is that you're going to be academic or you are going to be trained to become an academic. So that's what I thought I was going to be going into the finance PhD program at the University of Chicago. As I explored more of the program and more aspects academia, I found that perhaps I would enjoy working in industry as a practitioner more compared to life as academic. That was more of a personal choice than anything is out of preference to have some more freedom.
