Is There a Boosting Effect From Negativity?

High ranking makes sense on the top end for sure. But is there also an effect from, like, a boosting effect from the negative ratings? We did find that, just everything else being equal, im having more people dislike you strongly slightly helps the amount of attention you get. I have no idea why. My operating theory would be that everybody has a sense of what everybody else is going to be.
