Is Your Brain Predicting?

Stress is your brain predicting that you have a major metabolic outlay coming up. Exercise is stress, but it's good stress because usually you replenish what you spend. And also, maybe your brain is preparing you for a big metabolic outlay that you don't need. So this is going to manifest itself as negative mood and it'll manifest itself as physical symptoms. The body does not keep score; the brain keeps score. That's the way to think about it. There's an interesting book called "Body Budgeting," which talks about how we budget our bodies.
