The Beijing LGBT Center appeared to have adopted a less progressive agenda in the past few years. The center has been under constant scrutiny and surveillance for its work, but it still managed to maintain its major programs. A highlight of the center's recent work was its campaign to promote LGBT affirming mental health care. One-third of mental health professionals in China still believed being gay was a mental disorder; conversion therapy is effective.
