Katherine Johnson
Katherine Johnson was one of the first black students at West Virginia State College. She graduated summa cum laude in 1937 with degrees in mathematics and French. In 1952, a family member told her about open positions at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics is Langley Laboratory. Katherine began work at Langley in the summer of 1953.
