The Stolen Valor Act
Stolen Valor is a federal law that makes it a crime to claim you received the Congressional Medal of Honor when you actually didn't. Alvarez was the very first person ever convicted under the act. He argued that the law itself violated his free speech rights under the First Amendment. The Supreme Court agreed with Alvarez and reversed his conviction in 2012.
