The Role of Art School in the Career of Artists
The book traces a longer trajectory of careers than simply looking at the subject as people working on. Instead I take more of a life course approach where I've explored experience of education and how that's led to particular lines of working. And for many of my participants pursuing art and becoming an artist was not seen as good work by their parents or by their communities. So all three are definitely interrelated, but maybe we'll start actually with visual arts.
