A and a hold will last all the way up until two weeks before your flight when all the waitlists are canceled. If you're trying to book something a year out and you don't necessarily know when you want the return portion to be yet or you just don't want to have to call a and a back within that three-day hold period it lets you do that. Always use their multi-city search option not the masking barriers routing questions.
