The Author of Hebrews Is Not Allegorizing
The author of Hebrews is looking at the passage and seeing there is no indication in the text that Abraham intends to do anything other than what God has told him to do. He's looking at Isaac who he's commanded to kill and he's looking at the promises of God. And I think on Abraham's part here, it's important for us to recognize he recognizes nothing, not even death itself can stop God's promises.
