Is There a Jewish Theology That Is Compatible With Political Liberalism?

Many jews have a sort of adopted to political liberalism, almost without any real sense that once upon a time, our tradition was far more heteronomous. How should jews authentically maintain a connection to tradition, or to something distinct from political liberalism? And is there a religious value, a jewish theology, that can underwrite a commitment to political liberalism separate from simply the argument that religious liberty is good for us because we don't want to be inquisitioned?
