There's a lot of things you can do as a data scientist on Kaggle. And what Kaggle trains you for is modeling. Data scientists has to do data cleaning, sending up the metric,. discussing with clients or the teams and stuff like that. On Kaggle, you don't bother with that. You do the models and the influence by playing. If you have really good data engineers, you're going to be doing a little bit less data cleaning.
