Swimming made its debut at the Olympic Games in 1896. The oldest public Lido in the UK was built in 1815 and it's still going today. Serpentine Swimming Club, which was founded in 1864, is one of the oldest swimming clubs in the UK. It hosts a very famous swimming race on Christmas Day where members brave the cold for a traditional dip. There are a number of traditions around the UK where people go take off their clothes in the coldest depths of winter.
