The Romans Sent a Stream of Religious Items to Constantinople

The bones of saints and martyrs had been requisitioned over the centuries. Now they were free to be wrenched from their homes, since the crusader victory proved the Byzantines unworthy to possess them. Over the next few years the Latins would send a stream of religious items home. Some saints' bones were taken to churches dedicated to them in western Europe; others were gifted to monasteries and other patrons who had supported the Latins in their quest.
