CHAPTER

The Biggest Project in the History of Business

Ludwig von Moltke was a New York billionaire. He discovered huge underground deposits of brine on Mexico's Pacific coast. By pumping this brine to the surface and letting it stand in pools where the hot sun could evaporate the water, one could produce millions of tons of salt. The Baja coast was so remote that he would have to build an entire town if he was gonna develop the salt deposits. LZ: Much of Ludwig's success was due to his willingness to venture where more timid entrepreneurs dare not go. This is just one of these giant projects that he takes on.
