The kidnapping of women was quite common at this time in Mongolian culture. The preferred way or the way that a young man was supposed to do it was his family would make arrangements with another family for marriage. Han's mother, Erlud, had been kidnapped by Yusukei Bhatar while he was out hunting and her new husband died shortly afterwards.
