The History of Cleopatra
Cleopatra was the last of the Egyptian pharaohs and played a central role in the destruction of the Roman Republic. She developed relationships with Caesar and Antony for her protection and political gain. Had anyone else ruled Egypt instead, it probably would have resulted in Egypt losing its independence to Rome decades sooner. Cleopatra proved to be a capable leader who managed the affairs of Egypt rather well.
