I was kind of consciously influenced by a colleague of c s lewis's one of the inklings who was not terribly well known, called owen barfield. He thought that ancient peoples did not really see a difference between the outside world and the inside. They felt that they were on a continuum with the world and with thegods. And so i've always been very interested in this idea, and it was a bit of that idea that i wanted to get to with pyrenaise. It's actually called original participation. That's what barfield called it.
