A lot of people asked if this was the same cat that andy gives you later that becomes bandit. I think what they're thinking is, oh, dwight lets this cat go, and then years later andy finds it again and calls it bandit. That would be hilarious, but that was never conveyed to us in the script. It's just that andy wants to give angela a cat. And does it right in front of DWIGHT to sort of drive the point home that he's not her fellow any more.
