Keynesianism and the Great Depression
The Great Depression was a wake-up call for many Western governments. John Maynard Keynes, himself had been a critic of the Treaty of Versailles. He warned that Germany would not be able to pay back all of these reparations. This ushered in the era of Keynesianism, which continued until the 1970s.
