How to Increase Parasympathetic Output After Stress

We want to increase para sympathetic output, which is all about recovery. It's all about conditioning after we've experienced the stimulus and response of a stresser. While the single greatest way to do it is through breathing. What happens when we slow our breathing down? And we slow it down to a rate that's much slower than what is kind of common for people to breathe at. We call this sometimes a resonant rate. But in a general rule of thumb, most people will see a pretty stark change in heart rate, and more specifically, heart rate variability, when they drop down to six breaths per minute.
