Is General Intelligence a Good Idea?

A pigeon is almost more like an AI system that you're training than a human. The machine doesn't know cancer versus non-cancer either, right? It just knows how to spot the visual differences between the two. No human can ever beat a machine in chess. They have won. That's why we're very careful then about saying this is a specific form of artificial intelligence. Of course, that's the difference. And there's such a great debate as to whether or not general intelligence is even something we could create or design. I'd rather not invent a super-intelligent singularity style AI system. I think it would be bad.
