When participants are doing these experiments, whether they're undergoing surgery or they're hanging around with an implant, what kinds of things are researchers asking the patients to do? All kinds of interesting and bizarre things. Another ethical concern that you raise is that the person doing the surgery, the doctor, can also be the researcher that's pursuing these questions.
