The Babylonian Lunar Eclipse

Lunar eclipses were seen as malevolent omens by the Babylonians. King would temporarily abdicate and choose a commoner to rule for duration of an eclipse. During particularly ominous eclipses, kings would occasionally go so far as to temporary abdicate their throne.
