The Barbican Archive

Young curators and some colleagues of mine were rooting around in the basement of the barbican, and they found a small scene. They identified it as being from 19 81, a year before the barbican opened. And this was a kind of preserved little tableau of a laborer who had been working on building site and then left his shoes and his snacks in place. So there is a traditional collection of ephemera, say, of the barbicans history, but it's also about n to re examine the barbican and ask questions and test its original principles through collecting interpreting its collections.
