The self is this notion that there's a unified and during independent entity inside, somebody inside. I remember going all the way back to reading Alan Watts book, the taboo against knowing who you are. The book irritated me so much with its kind of strong argument that there actually is no entity inside. And I remember throwing it across the lawn, because it pissed me off and it frightened me. Myself, my pseudo self, as it were, in my view, through that darn thing across the lawn.
