The Mystery of Bill Maguire's Killing
The New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice took over the case. They re-examined all 221 pieces of evidence, including Bill's blood and urine samples. A long brown hair, a purple fibre, and a scrap of red nail polish were found in suitcases containing Melanie Maguire's clothing after her death. The manufacturer of blanket that was found around Bill's head provided investigators with a list of their clients which included clinic where Melanie worked. Records showed no one had recently purchased 38-caliber firearm in New Jersey. But gun laws in neighboring Pennsylvania were far more lax so these records were searched as well.
