Are Republicans or Democrats Better for the Stock Market?
I think we're going to see a return of the kind of budget showdowns and debt ceiling showdowns that were a common feature of divided government a few years ago. One, for sure, seems to be the defense spending will rise under the new configuration. I do think that there is a chance for some room for common ground between the parties. If you look over the long term, barring catastrophe in the global economy, markets rise over time. But trying to time it based on what the exact outlook is in terms of political control is an imprudent way.
