Zeus: King of the Gods

The Ancients

00:00

Uranus and the Whales of Babes

The muses start their story with a world at its youngest. It is not Zeus, but his grandfather, star-clad Uranus who holds the sky and that young world in his power. The first children are horrific to him. Each child stretches for 500 fingers, each bears 100 arms governed by 50 heads. He brands them hundred handers, hecatoncharies, and in disgust, or perhaps embarrassment, he banishes them to the depths. Another turn of the world, another whale of babes.
