CHAPTER

Synthetic Data Generation for AB Simulation

Synthetic data generation is a term that's been popping up recently in discussions about AB simulation. When an autonomous vehicle system is built, one of the really important components of that is perception. It takes most neural networks, hundreds of thousands to millions of data points to sufficiently train a neural network. But synthetic data can augment our real data sets by generating these things synthetically. So we can use the simulator to essentially position and place objects inside of the scene any way that we want.
