No One Is Willing to Pay Down Time
If a node goes down, you simply fail over and continue processing using a different replica. And voltDB does this. If there's a failure, you never see it. It's completely masked. This seems to be table stakes these days for anybody who's serious about OOTP. No one is willing to take down time.
