The Face of the Deep

The photo appears in a 1971 book titled The Face of the Deep. One third of the photographs were obtained, quote, over the past few years in Antarctic waters by the National Science Foundation's research ship, El Tannen. It seems to me that the same animal they're talking about this type of sponge was at the time taxonomized in the genus clateral visa.
