Abe Greenwald recommends 1981 debut novel by the Australian writer, Peter Carrie. "Bliss" is about an Australian ad exec in a small town who has he dies briefly from some sort of cardiac event. He says it's important to recommend cultural works that have the potential to offend us on some level as a counter to the idea we cannot countenance things that may make us feel unsafe.
