Google CEO Sundar Pichai: Is It Easy to Be Lay Off?

Google CEO Sundar Pichai held a town hall meeting on Monday at Google to address employees questions. He said that in 2021 Google had had what he described as quote, one of the strongest years we've ever had in the history of the company,. unquote, marked by a 41% growth in revenue. But this seems super weird to me because surely he and the rest of Google and Alphabet's C suite knew that this is the year after an unprecedented global pandemic and societal shutdown. One has to wonder if the reason why they hired all these people was because they wanted to take it.
