What's the Highlight of Tolkien 2019?
It's always been a balancing between understanding where the work sits in its historical cultural sort of intellectual context. But at the same time, understanding that readers today are reading it and getting something out of it for their present time. As long as we use the text as a springboard to talk about these things, I don't see a problem with it. If anything, that's where the discussion should be going.
