The Downfall of Metal Mapboards

The geologists traditionally used mapboards that were 17 to 20 inches across. Now, they're like using a regular clipboard, but they're bigger and duct tape them together. And on the bottom, you've got this clipboard material,. And then you duct tape a piece of Lexin, or plexiglass, on top of it. The duct tape serves as a hinge, right? And so you put your map underneath that. So then you just walk around with this sort of large alligator thing. But if you're doing a really big area, you don't have to keep readjusting your map when you're climbing around.
