The story goes that Grania gives birth and then the next day, Algerian pirates turn up and attack her fleet. She reacts in typical Grania fashion - she runs out with a blunderbuss and shoots at them. These are stories which are romanticised, aren't they? But they say a lot about how people thought of her. All I can say is no stitches, obviously.
