The Importance of McDonald's in Iceland

When McDonald's opened in Iceland in 1993, it was a big deal. The economy was booming and business was better than ever. But then 2008 happened; the stock market is now down 21%. On Halloween of 2009, all three Icelandic McDonald's closed for good. Yotar Smarasen stood in line at the last McDonald's location in Reykjavik to buy a big Mac.
